Always a great idea to be prepared! Below is a list of items all households should have for case of weather emergencies. Please note some of these items have an expiration date so use however replace immediately upon using it.
Emergency Weather Preparedness Kit:

Water: At least one gallon per person per day for at least 3 days.

Non-perishable food: Enough for 3 days, including canned goods, energy bars, and snacks. Don’t forget a manual can opener!

Flashlights: With extra batteries or solar-powered versions.

First Aid Kit: Include bandages, antiseptic wipes, gauze, tweezers, and basic medications (pain relievers, allergy meds, etc.).

Battery-powered or hand-crank radio: Preferably one with NOAA Weather Alerts for emergency weather information.

Portable phone chargers or power banks: Fully charged before storms, or solar-powered options.

Multi-tool or Swiss Army knife: For any unexpected repairs or needs.

Whistle: To signal for help if needed.

Dust masks: To help filter contaminated air, particularly after storm damage.

Plastic sheeting and duct tape: To seal windows or cover damaged areas.

Wrench or pliers: To turn off utilities if necessary.

Local maps: In case GPS or cell service is down.

Cash: ATMs and card readers may not work during power outages.

Blankets or sleeping bags: To stay warm if the power goes out.

Hygiene items: Moist towelettes, garbage bags, and plastic ties for sanitation purposes.

Medications: A week’s supply of prescription medications.

Important documents: Copies of insurance policies, identification, and bank account information in a waterproof container.

Fire extinguisher: In case of small fires during or after a storm.

Baby and pet supplies: Diapers, formula, pet food, and anything else your family may need.

Extra clothes and sturdy shoes: In case you need to leave your home.
